A Very Special Day

On Sunday 21st June 2015, (the Summer Solstice), Discovery Yukon Lodgings was proud to host its very first wedding! The ceremony was held on the newly finished bridge, over the pond, under a Northern Lights backdrop, surrounded by flowers and mountains.

The Bride and Groom fell in love with DYL last summer and asked if they could hold their wedding here – of course we said “Yes”! It was a beautiful and special day and we were very honoured to be a part of it. The choice of date, Midsummer’s Day, seemed perfect. The longest day of the year in a place where it never gets dark – what a great day for a celebration.

The ceremony took place at 5pm and was followed by a BBQ and bonfire. The campers enjoyed taking pictures and we even had a visit from a grizzly bear during the reception! The bride carried a beautiful wildflower bouquet using flowers from the campground and the cake stand was made from fallen logs found on the property.

I think it’s fair to say that everyone had an amazing day in the very special place that is Discovery Yukon Lodgings.
